Why Should You Use Laundromat

Why Use Laundromats

A quick go-to of working moms and travelers alike, laundromats have proven to be one of the best ways to save time and energy from doing a week’s worth of laundry.

However, not everybody considers signing up for laundry services. For one, visiting a laundromat seems to be an expensive way to tidy up a laundry. Who needs to take a trip to a laundromat if you can take care of your laundry on your own, right?

Nonetheless, there is so much more to laundromats than what meets the eye. If you are thinking twice on visiting a laundromat, below are some of the reasons why you definitely should take that much-needed trip:

1. It Saves Time

According to studies, a family of four spends around 12 hours of laundry time in a 30-day period. Laundromats are powerhouses of multiple washing machines and dryers.

By gaining access to these sets of equipment, you can load your laundry at 3 or 4 washers all at the same time, especially if you’re visiting the laundromat at off-peak hours. This basically means that you can cut your waiting time by more than half.

Plus, you can quickly dry your clean laundry since multiple dryers are all lined up at your disposal. Indeed, when it comes to efficiency, nothing beats visiting the laundromat nearest your vicinity.

2. It is Equipped with Large Laundry Machines

An average-sized washing machine can only hold up to 12 pounds of laundry, which is equivalent to a basket of soiled clothing and garments.

The problem is, you also have to wash bigger garments like comforters and curtains every once in awhile. Forcing these garments into your washing machine isn’t really ideal, especially since doing so may cause unwanted damages.

Fortunately, laundromats are equipped with large washers and dryers that can accommodate these kinds of laundry. In fact, you can load up to 75 pounds of laundry in most washers--that’s definitely more than what your washing machine at home can accommodate.

So if you have a large bulk of laundry or you need to clean up bigger garments, a trip to a laundromat is absolutely a quick fix.

Eco Friendly

3. Visiting the Laundromat is an Eco-Friendlier Option

Washing clothes at home may seem cost and energy efficient, but in reality, it has high environmental costs.

It is estimated that around 35 gallons of water are used every time you load your laundry at your washing machine. That’s equivalent to approximately 3.0 gallons/1 pound of laundry.

Using commercial laundromats, on the other hand, is more energy-efficient.

Based on studies, laundromats use only about 0.5 to 1.5 gallons of water/1 pound of laundry--a figure that is significantly lower as compared to the water consumption of household washing machines. Hence, if you are going to take eco-friendliness into account, visiting a laundromat is a wiser option.

4. Do Your Laundry Like a Pro

Lastly, if you are not sure about how to take off stains from sensitive fabrics, you have two options: drop-off your laundry at a service provider or look for a laundromat that are supervised by expert attendants.

This way, you can be more oriented on what you need to do to make sure your clothes won’t sustain any laundry-related damages.
